Fried Chicken & Waffles at The Bird Southern Table & Bar @ Marina Bay Sand

Christmas, Christmas.. It’s ok if you do not wish to cook during Christmas season, no problem, I shall bring you to somewhere you will surely love! That’s right, it’s my new favorite dining place, for fried chicken, waffles and more!

Ditch my diet for now, mum says it’s worthwhile!

The Bird’s signature dish, Chicken ‘n’ Watermelon ‘n’ Waffles. Thier fried chicken is brined in the owner’s special 100-year-old family recipe for almost 27 hours before putting it to fry. You could already imagine the full flavor that has fully packed into the chicken! How could it be not good…..

Fried Chicken ‘N’ Watermelon ‘N’ Waffles (S$45 for 2-3pax). With its large portions served, food at The Bird is definitely made to share with your loved ones.
Tenderized chicken meat and extra flavorful, even the chicken breast part was juicy and tender. Chicken pieces were dredged in seasoned flour and fried to crispy perfection. Fingers-licking-good!
Thick & fluffy waffles. It’s coated with cheddar cheese that gives an extra crispy crust, and yet, soft and flavorful on the inside.
Genius combinations. The deliberate saltiness of the chicken meat makes the fluffy cheese & herb waffles as well as the chilled spiced watermelon perfectly matched with each other.

On the menu, you’ll also find other classic dishes, from appetizers to desserts, for instances, the Deviled Egg, Fried Green Tomato BLT, Shrimp ‘N’ Grits, Buttermilk Biscuits, Butter Lettuce & Grilled Mango Salad, Banana Pudding and Cafe Cream Brûlée.. Seriously, there is nothing that I don’t like here. At least, the listed were what I truly enjoyed.

Shrimp and Grits

Classic shrimp & grits in flavorful chicken jus. Prawn was pan-seared with freshly ground black pepper. Paired with toppings of sundried tomato and shredded fresh raw red onions, aged Kentucky country ham, and spring onion. Milky grits was silken smooth and milky flavour.

A perfect kind of Deviled Egg

Savory, citrusy, strong hint of fresh dill in the yolk. Sure it was with smooth consistency.


Loved the smoked tomato jam which balances the strong smoked pork belly. Starting from first layer, the frisée, followed by tomato jam, pork belly, pimento cheese and the fried green tomato. Such contrast arrangement balances out the taste of each individual item. Each layering elevates the taste in the palate. None of these is overpowering.

Butter Lettuce & Grilled Mango Salad. Tasty, crunchy, refreshing.
Mac & Cheese. Macaroni was soaked in five artisanal cheeses. Its flavor was strong & authentic. A must-eat for the die-hard cheese lovers.
Banana Pudding. Topped with a slice of their iconic bird-shaped cookie on a swirl of Chantelle cream. It pleases the eyes, and palate.
Cafe Creme Brûlée. This is definitely my favourite dessert, especially the quenelle of orange flavoured Chantelle cream. Silky smooth cream paired with smooth coffee cream brûlée. It doesn’t taste overly sweet.
Blackberry Bourbon Lemonade. Can’t take alcohol? The bartender will be more than happy to help you skip the bourbon. Taste still as great.
Alternatively, go for this iced white peach tea that is so refreshing and light in flavor.

The Bird, indeed, a great dining place for all occasions. Yes, no one would ever stop you from dropping by for just a casual meal. Ditch the diet, I am going again on my own tomorrow!
