Breakfast or lunch? This store is equally good for simple homey meals.

“Real authentic Hong Kong cha-chaan-teng food”

Looking for local flavor in Hong Kong? Discover the essence of local flavor in Hong Kong at 科記 (For Kee), an old-time Cha Chaan Teng. Despite its restaurant-like name, this quaint spot offers an authentic and delightful Cha Chaan Teng menu. Step into the charm of this seemingly dated establishment for a taste of true Hong Kong culinary tradition.

Quaint interior of the store.

Nestled in the heart of Sheung Wan district, For Kee awaits at the corner down the street. As a less touristy gem, navigating your way there adds to the adventure.

This local eatery, favored by residents, became my post-prayer haven after visiting the Man Mo temple uphill on the same street. A comforting breakfast at For Kee was the perfect remedy for our famished stomachs.

Savor the fried egg toast at its best by enjoying it immediately upon serving.

Anticipating my breakfast at For Kee, my excitement centered around their egg toast and, most importantly, their renowned silken milk tea. The egg toast, despite the eatery’s unassuming appearance, was a delight to the senses. With crispy toast embracing a tender and moist fried egg, it required no extra seasoning or sauce to elevate its goodness. A truly maximal culinary experience!

As I enjoyed my meal, glimpses of a neighboring table’s order caught my eye – a plate of glossy, thick French toast that beckoned with irresistible allure. Knowing I had to experience that delight for myself, it became my immediate copycat choice.

Indulge in the epitome of French toast perfection at For Kee – toasty outside, cottony soft inside, and adorned with a luscious condensed milk dressing. Undoubtedly, one of the finest toasts I’ve ever savored.

Crafted from thick toast, the eggy French toast at For Kee boasts a delightful contrast – crusty on the outside, yet soft and fluffy within. The thickness doesn’t equate to excessive moisture, but rather a perfect balance of eggy flavor in each bite. Remarkably, the toast maintains a commendable lack of greasiness. Drizzling condensed milk atop takes the taste to a luscious crescendo, achieving a perfect level of sweetness. A sensation for carb enthusiasts, truly something worth exclaiming about.

For a delightful treat, sink your teeth into the warm, crispy crust of For Kee’s bun, embracing a flavorful pork chop within.

Intrigued by their popular dishes, we also ventured into the realm of the pork chop bun – a delicious choice that left no room for disappointment. If you crave hearty, meaty toasted sandwiches to satisfy your hunger, ordering this is a must.

I’ll go with a classic toast than sandwich style. What’s your preference?

While For Kee boasts fame for their pork chop rice and satay beef bun, my visit in the early morning led me to skip these options. The timing didn’t align for a full rice meal, and beef isn’t in my palate’s preferences. Given the widespread acclaim for these dishes, I opted to focus on our delightful choices for now, leaving these much-lauded options for your exploration and desire.

Sure, in Hong Kong, everyone loves iced milk tea and iced Yuan Yang, a mix of coffee and tea with milk. Silky smooth milk tea is a must-try specialty in Hong Kong.
