Apple Salmon Soup

20140622-213210-77530313.jpg“A soup with natural sweetness that your child would not reject.”

This soup is more for your toddler, but of course, you may cook this for yourself and the other adults, too, if you do not mind sweet tasting soup for lunch.

Healthy, balanced, natural sweetness, yet, flavorsome. Children would be able to finish whole big bowl of soup including the fish and apples as well as other ingredients in it.

It’s an easily assembled soup meal which you may prepare within 20 minutes!

And, don’t forget, this is also your perfect soup during the dieting period. It helps you to lose your inches, too!

Serves 1-2
Ingredients
1 small slice of salmon fillet
1 medium red apple, cored and cut
1 tablespoon of red capsicum (bell pepper), diced
1 teaspoon of olive oil
Pinch of coarsely grounded black pepper

500ml of water

Method
(1) Bring a pot of water to a boil over medium heat. Add cut or diced apples (may peel or leave the skin intact if using organic apple) and bring it to a boil again. Reduce heat and cover pot with lid to simmer for 10 minutes.

(2) Remove lid. Add capsicum and salmon fillet and continue to simmer till fish is cooked, about 5 – 8 minutes. Drizzle olive oil and black pepper. Heat off. Serve warm.

Apples would be softened and it’s delicious to eat it up with the soup.

To cook for adults or whole family, I recommend adding green apples to cook the soup, and salt to season.

** This soup is suitable for toddler from 15-months old (above 12 months old may try also).

Tips: May use red or green capsicum. It enhances the soup flavor! What’s more, get your toddler to try different vegetables!

I can increase the serving size by adding more ingredients right? And would it be ok if I Slow cook the soup?

      Hi,

Yes, you may increase the serving size.

Hmmm…. It is ok to use a slow cooker to cook this soup, no harm doing so, but it is certainly not necessarily since both apples and salmon do not need long boiling.

What is the reason that this recipe only suits 12 month baby or older? Is it because of the texture or the red bell pepper? It seems like a great menu for my 11-month old!

Hi. Yes, it’s because of the texture. This ya pure solid food which suits older kids better. Under 12 months, we suggest semi solid food.

Serving not just the Western, but Hainanese cuisine. Loved their dinner rolls (but not the butter), too.

Averagely RM150 per pax for a 2-course (shared appetizer and main course) and coffee/ chilled drink.

Just came across a random IG post this morning saying that “woman over 40, can never looked as young and as energetic as young girls no matter how well she took care of herself”…… In the first place, why should women over their 40s, to take care of themselves and their appearance, is to compare with young girls…. Why only women over 40 need to be taught by him (a guy at his 20s or so) that these women should and should not do certain things in their life…. Why only women over 40s….. Speechless. Period. #happymothersdaytoall
