I loved pumpkin, this is a fact. Regardless it is cooked in soup, make into dessert, bake it, steam it, etc, I just love pumpkin!

If you, too, are liking pumpkin as much as I do, try this super easy and savory pumpkin dish. Simple ingredients, easy cooking method, you will get to savor it in just a flash!

300 gram of pumpkin, peeled, removed seeds and sliced thinly
1 teaspoon of dried shrimps, rinsed and soaked for 5 minutes
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 – 2 teaspoons of sugar
1 teaspoon of chicken granule
Pinch of salt
2 – 3 tablespoons of water

Came across many savory dishes on Aloe Vera and loved it. When come to Cactus, it gave an impression of an over-whelming greenish taste, but it is not true! After reading some write-ups on the benefits of taking cactus, I decided to give it s try. And guess what, it is really great to have in the soup!

Not sure since when, many articles claimed that cactus has become a popular dish in many occasions since it is easy to cook. Its stem can be eaten chilled with some additions of salad dressing. Hello! Long time no ‘see’… My apology, I have been so busy for the Chinese Lunar New Year. Of course, mainly due to the preparation of feasts, and feasting (chuckles).

Well, for the Chinese, I am sure you are, too, being spoilt with all the good and luxurious festive food. If you really are feasting so much on meat and seafood during the season, I guess it’s time to yearn for some good green dishes!

But, yes, to celebrate such festive occasion, we probably can’t escape from indulging seafood dishes as seafood symbolizes prosperity in Chinese culture. So, I am adding seafood to my greens, but a light one. read more

Soupy Chicken Stew

“Chicken Stew with Assorted Root Vegetables for cold rainy days”

This dish is a variation of a stew served at the Soup Spoon restaurant, where I usually have or pack my soupy lunch during rainy days. It was to avoid walking to lunch to unsheltered places on my heels under the rain.

The Tokyo chicken stew soup is one of their popular choices in the Soup Spoon restaurant. I was not sure why is it called Tokyo chicken stew. Perhaps it has some special ingredients from Japan in it, I was not too sure. However, this is surely a delicious stew in clear soup which resembles the chicken noodle soup served in many Western cuisine restaurants. I was very interested to cook this up on my own at home. Fresh Clams and Mallow Squash Soup (鲜蛤角瓜汤)

Seafood and mallow soup dish. Not quite a soup, but more like a soupy dish. Don’t understand what I mean? Ok, let me explain… This recipe was supposedly a moist (but not wet) barbequed dish, but I added with some water to make it a soupy dish. I did not add too much water, just half the amount of the usual soup cooking’s, just to make it more soupy, that’s all.. That’s why I called it a soupy dish instead of soup dish. read more
