Bird Nest Pineapple Cakes (燕窝黄梨酥)

“Bird nest incorporated into pineapple paste filling, just feeling luscious this Lunar festival.”

Making these into cake blocks in order to stuff in more bird nest into its pineapple filling. The chunks of pineapple cake would look more generous this way.

Same pineapple filling recipe I had previously, or even store-bought readymade kind of pineapple paste will do the job. Only the crust was made with slight difference this time.

Festive Dish: Steamed Pork Belly with Taro Pineapple & White Radish (年菜: 好意头(芋头)旺来扣肉)

“It’s not your ordinary Kou Rou (steamed pork belly) dish.”

I have my conventional recipe for Kou Rou dish. And here, I was to bring my pork Belly dish to a new level, with the necessary festive twist. Simply to prepare it as one of our Chinese Lunar New Year dishes!

I would like to consider this an entirely different pork belly dish. Not only the side ingredients were adapted for auspicious purpose, the recipe was just different. Cai po, Miso paste, mirin, etc were used here.. Weird? It turned out so well, in fact! read more

Steamed Pomfret In Soy Sauce Recipe ‘囍宴港蒸鯧鱼’ (Festive-dish)

This is the same steamed fish you always get to taste when attending wedding Chinese banquet dinner. Some called it Hong Kong Style, whilst others called this steamed in light soy sauce… There were even more names in Chinese menus.. Whatever name to be called as desired, I knew this would be so well liked by anyone, both the adults and children. :)

Love-Wings ‘比翼双飞’ (Air-Fried)

“Wing-to-wing for all couples in this Lunar New Year!”

If you are still thinking of chicken dish for the coming reunion dinner, but tired of fixing a whole chicken… Chicken wings could be ideal for the lunar new year celebration. Afterall, who doesn’t want to be wing-to-wing with your beloved spouse. Yes, having wings at your reunion dinner is to symbolize flying together, wing to wing like a pair of bird… Walking hand in hand with your loved one… Sweet. :)

Ingredients
6 pcs of large 3-joint chicken wings
1 tablespoon of light soy sauce
2 tablespoons of Chinese braised sauce (or some brands called it Chinese Marinade sauce. In Chinese: 卤水汁), store-bought
1-2 tablespoons of XO sauce
1 tablespoon of Chu Hou paste (柱候酱)
