“My easy-peasy one-dish-meal version of Mapo tofu”
Happened to chance upon a Japanese version of spicy bean paste at $2 Daiso store. Hence, made a dish with this instant paste and a block of silken tofu I had for quite some time as well as whatever was available in my refrigerator.
Simple and easy recipe I have created for tonight’s dinner. It was subtly tasted with just a hinge of spiciness from the bean paste. So, if you are a fan of super spicy dish, add chili oil to it.
1 block of silken tofu, large cubed
1 bowl of sweet corn kernel, pre-boiled to cook and soften (from 1 sweet corn)
150g of minced meat, seasoned with light soy sauce and sesame oil read more

If you are still thinking of chicken dish for the coming reunion dinner, but tired of fixing a whole chicken… Chicken wings could be ideal for the lunar new year celebration. Afterall, who doesn’t want to be wing-to-wing with your beloved spouse. Yes, having wings at your reunion dinner is to symbolize flying together, wing to wing like a pair of bird… Walking hand in hand with your loved one… Sweet. :)
6 pcs of large 3-joint chicken wings
1 tablespoon of light soy sauce
2 tablespoons of Chinese braised sauce (or some brands called it Chinese Marinade sauce. In Chinese: 卤水汁), store-bought
1-2 tablespoons of XO sauce
1 tablespoon of Chu Hou paste (柱候酱)
1 teaspoon of coarse my grounded black pepper
1 heaping teaspoon of sugarread more
Instead of the usual dipping sauce of chili Padi in light soy sauce, I think this special mixed sauce goes even better with the grilled or pan fried fish.
Less salty with a tinge of sweetness, it gives the barely seasoned fish meat a full flavor by just dipping it into this refreshing sweet spicy sauce. Yes, you do not need to add extra seasoning to marinate the fish to make your grilled fish meal a delicious hit. With the dipping sauce.
Dipping sauce specially made for grilled or pan fried fish dish. At home or for your barbecue party
3-4 chili Padi (Bird Eyes Chili), cut
2 cloves of garlic, minced
2 tablespoons of Thai fish sauce
1 teaspoon f lime juice (freshly squeezed from 1 small lime)
1 teaspoon of sugar Pinch of Italian herbs
3-4 whole small fishes (Kampong fish or Yellowtail Scad)
Pinch of salt
2 tablespoons of oil
Make 2-3 slits on both sides of the fish.
Heat frying pan with oil over medium-low Fire.
Grill fish until both sides are browned.
Mix all ingredients (A) in a saucer/ small bowl.
Stir and grin sugar until dissolve.
Serve with grilled fish.
Tips: Adjust amount of sugar for more or less, as desired taste.
* It's ok if you do not have Italian herbs at home, add chopped parsley instead. I preferred Italian herbs as it dedicates a more comprehensive flavour to my sauce. :)

My son loves the Chinese yellow noodle (Chinese alkaline noodle), usually being prepared in soup as fish balls noodle soup selling at most of the hawker centers, food courts and coffee shops in Singapore and other parts of Asia.
This thin yellow noodle would also commonly be cooked in fried noodle (Chinese Chow Mien) or the Mee Goreng (Indian fried noodle) style which easily found selling outside. Having that said, these fried noodles selling at the stores are usually over seasoned or spicy. read more

In order to fully appreciate the freshest taste and natural sweetness Of the fresh pea sprouts as well as the highly nutritious mushrooms, minimal use of condiment to taste is more than just required. I needed only the abalone sauce in my recipe.
If you are a vegetarian, use the mushroom sauce. Otherwise, the Abalone sauce is the best to go with this stir fry! That’s because the golden spring mushroom (金源菇) used in this recipe yields a tinge of ‘seafood’ taste after cooked. Hence, adding abalone sauce was sure to good in enhancing the flavor of this seafood-tasted mushroom in the dish.read more

Satay, barbecued chicken on-stick, is one of the famous Singapore/ Malaysia hawker food that everybody loves!
I have always wanted to cook satay at home, but the extended peeling & chopping, blending and long simmering preparation put me off. Only until today, my satays are finally served on the dining table. We loved satay, but I was a little skeptical to eat too much of the store-bought.
