Banana Vinegar (香蕉醋)

“Good sharing on dieting ideas”

Talking about dieting…. The vinegar dieting is back on demand! Heating up again gradually…. I am one of the followers on this diet. One of my dieting methods, now.

I don’t think there are much scientific proof, besides having concrete findings that vinegar helps in body cleansing and detoxification (or similar effect). However, it does not equal to sure-successful weight lose effect. Only many (too many) hear-say that it helps a lot in slimming down, especially after the testimonial from one of the Japanese celebrity who lost 8kg in a month, many years ago. This vinegar diet has, then, become so popular and believing. More

Overnight Oat Porridge

“Many reasons to start eating healthy oat meal porridge”

It has been in trend to make overnight oat meal for breakfast in the female community, but I have more reasons to start having it on daily basis. I needed this healthy low-fat meal to kick start my dieting plan.

However, as many would agree, not many would eat oat porridge regularly. So many people, including myself, were having this impression that oat meal is for the weak or aging folks…. but but, let me tell you now, it’s not true! More

Snow Pear Herbal Tea

“Great herbal tea for hectic life”

Just come back from a 2-stop trip, all the way up to the north of Malaysia. We visited The Lost World, Tambun, Ipoh, followed by Hatyai, Thailand, in 6 days. :)

3-in-1 Miso Dish

“New Easy & Nutritious Dinner Dish”

Instant idea to come out with the dish. I had a big portion of Salmon fillet leftover from my son’s cooking as he took only a slice out of the whole fillet for his porridge dinner.

Was pondering a question of cooking our all-time favorite Teriyaki Salmon or not, I had decided to do a new 3-in-1 dish this time. Yea, I always associate Salmon fish with Japanese cuisine naturally, I would not skip in this creation, too. Haha. Use miso paste as the base of the gravy to the dish, I think any dish creation would just never go wrong. :) More

Steamed Yam (Taro) Cake 芋头糕

“Breakfast? Snack? Local Delicacy?”

Did I not remember correctly that I owe someone this steamed yam cake recipe? Hmmm…. I thought one of my fans did the request… Anyway, I’ve cooked this, finally.

To be honest, I got my steamed yam cake cooked successfully only after my third trial. The first two times weren’t quite successful as the cakes turned out too firm. Way too firm to chew. Yes, too little water was added. Only in the third cooking, I got the right amount of water for my recipe. More

Stir Fried Kangkong with Fermented Bean Curd Cubes (腐乳炒通菜)

“Kangkong, in a ‘Hong Kong’ way”

While Sambal Belacan Kangkong is a popular vegetable dish in Singapore and Malaysia, this Kangkong with fermented bean curd is pretty common in Hong Kong.

As you know, I am a die hard fan of Hong Kong (and its food!), I will not miss eating and cooking some of these signature Hong Kong household dishes by my own. More
